Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury today said many institutions across the country suffered damage over the past 17 years due to politicization, adding that the country will now be run on the basis of fairness, accountability and law.
He made the remarks while speaking as chief guest at a meet and greet and exchange of views meeting with heads of all departments of district, held at the conference room of the Chuadanga deputy commissioner's office, said a press release.
Making his first official visit to Chuadanga as the minister in charge of the district, he declared zero tolerance against drugs and corruption and for maintaining law and order in the district.
He also called on the administration to remain active in preventing propaganda over fertilizer and electricity.
The minister said the government is working towards the development of the people. Various welfare programmes of the government, including distribution of family cards and farmer cards and canal excavation, are being implemented for the welfare of the people, he added.
He also said that, marking Nazrul Year, initiatives have been taken to organise cultural programmes across the country to further enrich communal harmony and national culture.
The event, presided over by Deputy Commissioner Lutfun Nahar, was attended by Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ruhul Kabir Khan, heads of all departments of district and local dignitaries.
