Government Committed to Ensuring Workers' Rights, Workplace Safety, and Social Security: Shimul Biswas


Special Correspondent: A nationwide exchange meeting was held with the participation of transport worker leaders to discuss professional crises, fair rights, safety, and solutions to various ongoing issues faced by road transport workers.

The meeting, held on Saturday (August 1), was chaired by Abdur Rahim Box Dudu. Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas MP, Chief Coordinator of the Road Transport Owners-Workers, attended as the chief guest.

At the meeting, worker leaders arriving from various districts across the country highlighted several workplace issues, road safety concerns, workers' legitimate rights, welfare benefits, and existing crises in the transport sector. Speeches were delivered by Sojib Ali, Mohammad Hanif, General Islam, Abbas Uddin, Abul Kashem, Jobayer Zakir, Md. Musa, Abdul Alim, Bala Mia, Haji Shahjahan, Haji Moinul Islam, Robiul Islam, Abu Sarkar, Firoz Khan, Abdul Barik, Mominul Islam Lovelu, Nazrul Islam, Mohammad Musa, and Hasan Mahmud.

In his speech as the chief guest, Shimul Biswas stated that the road transport sector is one of the key driving forces of the country's economy. He emphasized that the government and relevant stakeholders are committed to ensuring workers' fair rights, a safe working environment, and social security. He added that through mutual cooperation and coordination between workers and owners, the transport sector must be developed into a more modern, disciplined, and service-oriented industry.
​He further mentioned that efforts will be made in coordination with all relevant parties to implement the logical demands of the workers. At the same time, he called upon workers, owners, and all concerned to work together to improve discipline, safety, and service quality in the road transport sector.

Speaking as the special guest, Md. Humayun Kabir Khan—Co-Labor Affairs Secretary of the BNP Central Committee, General Secretary of the Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation, and former VP—said that establishing workers' rights and finding effective solutions to ongoing problems can only be achieved through unity, organizational strength, and dialogue among workers.

Representatives from various district- and central-level road transport worker organizations attended the meeting. They praised the role of MP Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas in resolving transport sector crises, ensuring workers' rights, and driving overall development in the sector. Furthermore, they expressed their resolve to work together under his leadership in the future.
