State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir today expressed Bangladesh’s keen interest in contributing professionals and skilled and semi-skilled workers to the development of Bhutan’s Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC).
He expressed the interest during a meeting with Bhutanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Dasho Karma Hamu Dorjee at the foreign ministry here, according to a ministry press release.
The Bhutanese envoy called on the state minister and congratulated him on his appointment.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral issues of mutual interest and explored ways to deepen cooperation between the two friendly countries.
Recalling the vision of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, Kobir sought Bhutan’s support for revitalising the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) for the collective benefit of the region and its people.
The Bhutanese ambassador conveyed her country’s deep appreciation for the warm reception accorded to Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck during his brief stopover at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on August 26.
She particularly appreciated the presence of the Bangladesh president at the airport to welcome the Bhutanese monarch.
Dorjee also expressed gratitude to the foreign ministry for its support in helping her discharge diplomatic responsibilities in Bangladesh.
