TBT DESK: CFA Society Bangladesh has elected a new executive committee for a two-year term beginning 1 July, with banking executive Mahtab Osmani, CFA, assuming the role of president.

Osmani, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Corporate and Investment Banking at Bank Asia PLC, succeeds Asif Khan, CFA, Chairman of EDGE AMC Limited, who previously led the professional body.

A long-time member of the organisation, Osmani most recently served as a director of CFA Society Bangladesh before being elected president.

The newly elected office bearers also include Kazi Monirul Islam, CFA, Chief Executive Officer of Shanta Asset Management Ltd., as vice-president; S. M. Galibur Rahman, CFA, Head of Research and Strategic Planning at Shanta Securities Ltd., as secretary; and Md. Sakib Chowdhury, CFA, Head of Wealth and Advisory Business at Prime Bank Investment Limited, as treasurer.

The society's board also comprises former president Asif Khan, CFA; S. M. Samiuzzaman, CFA, Senior Portfolio Manager at UCB Asset Management Ltd.; and Saad Mohammed Niamatullah, CFA, Manager (Strategy) at LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Ltd.

CFA Society Bangladesh is the local member society of CFA Institute, the global association of investment professionals. It brings together CFA charterholders and investment professionals from banks, asset management companies, regulatory bodies and corporate organisations across Bangladesh.

According to the organisation, its activities focus on promoting education in finance and investment, encouraging ethics and professionalism within the investment industry, engaging with policymakers and regulators, and providing continuing professional development opportunities for members.

CFA Society Bangladesh currently has more than 151 CFA charterholders and around 97 associate members. It is one of 157 local member societies affiliated with CFA Institute, which represents more than 200,000 charterholders across over 160 markets worldwide.
