

TBT DESK: The Bangladesh Professional Golfers' Association (BPGA) has elected a new Executive Committee for the 2026–2028 term, with Mohammed Younus elected as President and Sifat Ahmed Chaudhuri as Secretary General.
The results of the biennial election, held on June 26 at Kurmitola Golf Club in Dhaka Cantonment, were officially announced by the Election Commission on Saturday, marking the beginning of a new two-year leadership for the association.
Mohammed Younus, Chairman of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC, will serve as President, while Sifat Ahmed Chaudhuri, Vice Chairman of ABN Formulation and Trading Ltd., has been elected Secretary General.
The newly elected leadership said it would focus on promoting professional golf across the country, improving the welfare of professional golfers, creating more competitive opportunities, nurturing young talent and strengthening the activities of the association during its tenure.
Dr Afshan Anis was elected Vice-President, Md Musa as Joint Secretary and Mohammad Nurul Kabir as Treasurer.
The Executive Committee for the 2026–2028 term also includes Muhammad Nazrul Islam, Md Shakhawat Hossain Shohel, Brig Gen GM Quamrul Islam (Retd.), Bashir Ahmed, Abul Kalam Azad, Md Dulal Hossain, Sahid, Md Ismail Hossain, Md Sajib Ali and Nadim Hossan.
The BPGA Election Commission thanked the outgoing Executive Committee, the Election Appeal Committee, candidates, voters and members for their support in conducting what it described as a free, fair and successful election.
The association said the new committee would work to further develop professional golf in Bangladesh by expanding opportunities for players and strengthening institutional capacity over the next two years.
