

TBT DESK: Sony-Smart, the authorised distributor of Sony electronics in Bangladesh, has organised the country’s first-ever movie marathon competition, bringing together film enthusiasts from across the country in a unique entertainment event.
The grand finale of the Sony-Smart Movie Marathon 2026 was held at the Sony-Smart showroom in Uttara, Dhaka, on Saturday evening, featuring eight finalists selected through multiple competitive rounds.
Organised by Smart Technologies (BD) Limited, the official distributor of Sony products in Bangladesh under the Sony-Smart brand, the competition drew 2,435 applicants from different regions of the country.
Following an initial screening process, 40 contestants advanced to five competitive rounds, from which eight finalists secured places in the concluding event.
Mahmudul Haque from Noakhali emerged as the champion of the inaugural movie marathon, winning a 65-inch Sony 4K Google television from Sony’s latest Bravia 5 series. Runner-up Nouf Shaheen Kona received a Sony ULT Field 7 sound system, while second runner-up Zahidul Islam won a Sony ULT Field 1 sound system.
All finalists were awarded commemorative “Ultimate Badges” and Sony noise-cancelling headphones, while participants in earlier rounds received souvenirs and gift vouchers.
The award ceremony was attended by senior officials from Smart Technologies and Sony, including Sarwar Jahan Chowdhury, General Manager and Head of Sales at Smart Technologies (BD) Ltd, Azad Rahman, Deputy General Manager and Head of Marketing, and Md Delwer Hossain, Product Specialist at Sony International Bangladesh branch.
Popular digital content creator, comedian and actor Rakin Absar also joined the event alongside guests and Sony-Smart officials.
Speaking at the event, participants and guests praised the organisers for introducing what they described as an innovative entertainment platform for movie enthusiasts in Bangladesh.
Sarwar Jahan Chowdhury said Sony-Smart had built a strong nationwide customer and distribution network since partnering with Sony in Bangladesh five years ago, helping strengthen trust in authentic Sony products.
