Record handling in a single day at NCT

TBT DESK: A record-breaking 5,709 TEUs (20-foot long) containers were handled in a single day at the Newmooring Container Terminal (NCT) yard of the Chattogram Port.
This achievement marks the highest container handling record in a single day at the Newmooring Container Terminal in the history of the port, Port Secretary Syed Refaet Hamim said.

He said it represents a significant accomplishment in the operational history of the country's main seaport. The port is managed by the port authority and the Bangladesh Navy-run Chattogram Dry Dock Limited, the operating agency of the NCT yard.
The last record of 5,484 TEUs container handling was on April 11. On the last day of April Chattogram Port handled 10,162 TEUs containers across all terminals, showcasing the port's capacity, reports BSS.
On the occasion of May Day, Chattogram Port Authority is honouring the hard work of workers in various terminals.

The post secretary said today's success was attributed to the dedication and patriotism of the workers. The new record was dedicated to them on this special day.

Port officials gave the credit to Chattogram Port Authority's efforts to boost trade through Bangladesh's sea routes and enhance port capacity. The record-breaking performance of the New Mooring Container Terminal is expected to boost the country's economy, they said.
