TBT DESK: The Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCCI) has proposed a comprehensive partnership with the government to strengthen technical education in Bangladesh through collaboration with Chinese institutions and investors.
A BCCCI delegation met the Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division, Abdul Khaleque, on Wednesday to discuss avenues for cooperation in developing skills-based education. The delegation was led by Brigadier General Shah Md Sultan Uddin Iqbal (retd), chairman of BCCCI’s Standing Sub-Committee on Education and Research.
During the meeting, the Secretary welcomed the initiative and praised BCCCI’s efforts to advance technical education in the country.
BCCCI, in partnership with Beijing ArkGalaxy Technology Co Ltd, presented a proposal covering several areas of collaboration. These include introducing new departments and subjects, upgrading existing programmes to international standards, teacher training, technology transfer, and experience sharing. The proposal also outlines plans for supplying modern machinery and educational materials, as well as creating internship opportunities for Bangladeshi students in Chinese firms operating both locally and abroad. It further envisions potential employment pathways in China-linked enterprises.
Representatives of the Chinese company expressed their readiness to provide technical assistance, backed by Chinese funding, to implement the proposed initiatives.
Highlighting future priorities, the Secretary stressed the importance of integrating smart technologies and artificial intelligence across sectors, particularly in agriculture. He also encouraged closer collaboration between Chinese investors and local stakeholders to maximise public benefits.
The meeting was attended by senior BCCCI officials and representatives from Chinese partner organisations, reflecting growing interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation in education and skills development.
