Bangladesh conveys PM's solidarity message to UAE amid regional tensions

Bangladesh has conveyed a message of solidarity with the United Arab Emirates amid ongoing regional tensions, following a meeting between Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir and UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday evening.

Kabir handed over a personal letter from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to the UAE foreign minister, addressed to UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a Foreign Ministry press release said here today.

In the letter, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman expressed "firm solidarity" with the UAE leadership, government and brotherly people in light of the current conflict situation.

He expressed deep concerns over the attacks, the loss of lives, injuries, and damage to property.

The Prime Minister also conveyed his sincere appreciation for the UAE Government's continued support in hosting a large number of Bangladeshi expatriates and for the measures taken to ensure their safety and well-being.

He reiterated Bangladesh's readiness to extend support if required and invited the UAE President to visit Bangladesh.

During the meeting, the UAE Foreign Minister conveyed condolences over the deaths of two Bangladeshi expatriates in recent attacks and reaffirmed his government's commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents regardless of nationality.

The UAE minister also expressed his government's gratefulness for Bangladesh's solidarity and support.

Kabir, for his part, commended the UAE leadership's restraint and stressed the importance of resolving disputes through dialogue and diplomatic means.

The two sides reviewed bilateral relations, describing ties as strong and reaffirming their commitment to further cooperation across sectors of mutual interest.

The Foreign Ministry said Kabir is currently visiting several Gulf countries as the Prime Minister's special envoy to convey messages to regional leaders and strengthen Bangladesh's engagement with the Gulf region.
