Bangladesh-China reiterate commitment to regional peace, development

TBT DESK: Bangladesh and China have reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening regional peace, sustainable development, and trilateral cooperation. The courtesy meeting between the two countries' ambassadors to the Maldives was held, Thursday.

During the meeting, both acknowledged that this commitment reflects a common vision for mutual cooperation and stability in the South Asia and Indian Ocean region. The meeting was conducted in an extremely cordial and friendly atmosphere. This was later announced in a press release from the High Commission of Bangladesh in the Maldives.

During the meeting, the two diplomats held constructive discussions on various issues of mutual interest. They specifically emphasized strengthening regional peace, economic cooperation, and sustainable development. Both sides also reiterated their pledge to further strengthen the framework of trilateral cooperation among Bangladesh, China, and the Maldives, so that all three countries can collectively contribute to the goals of growth and stability.

In the discussion, the contribution of Bangladeshi expatriates to various ongoing Chinese investment projects in the Maldives was specially noted. Both diplomats praised the hard work, professionalism, and dedication of Bangladeshi workers in projects like the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge, Velana International Airport development, regional airport construction, and the expansion of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

They agreed that the combined efforts of the three nations will open new horizons in trade, investment, and socio-economic progress.

As a gesture of goodwill, Chinese Ambassador Kong Xianhua stated, "The Chinese Embassy in the Maldives will always keep the doors of cooperation open for Bangladesh." In response, High Commissioner Nazmul Islam said, "Bangladesh is also ready to participate in any such cooperation where the people of the three countries can collectively benefit."
