BBCC Business Gala Night Strengthens Canada–Bangladesh Business Relations

The Bangladesh Business Chamber of Canada (BBCC) successfully hosted its prestigious Business Gala Night on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Sheraton Parkway Toronto North Hotel & Suites in Richmond Hill. The event brought together business leaders, entrepreneurs, bankers, investors, professionals, elected officials, and community leaders for an evening dedicated to strengthening business, trade, and investment ties between Canada and Bangladesh.

The Gala Night was presided over by Mr. Alamgir Rahman, President of the Bangladesh Business Chamber of Canada (BBCC). The program commenced with welcome remarks by Mr. Iqbal Roshd, Director and Senior Vice President of BBCC.

The event was honoured by the presence of His Excellency Mr. Md. Jashim Uddin, High Commissioner of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to Canada, as the Chief Guest, while Ms. Doly Begum, Member of Parliament, attended as the Guest of Honour. Mr. Subir Kumar Dey, Chief Advisor of BBCC, also addressed the gathering and shared his valuable perspectives on strengthening business collaboration between Canada and Bangladesh.

In his keynote remarks, His Excellency Mr. Md. Jashim Uddin highlighted the growing opportunities for trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Canada and Bangladesh. He encouraged Bangladeshi-Canadian entrepreneurs to work together in building stronger business partnerships and assured the community of the Bangladesh High Commission's continued support in promoting bilateral trade and investment. He also praised BBCC for creating an important platform that brings together business leaders and entrepreneurs from both countries.

Speaking as the Guest of Honour, Ms. Doly Begum, MP, acknowledged the significant contributions of Bangladeshi-Canadian entrepreneurs to Canada's economy. She emphasized the importance of government support programs, business innovation, and community collaboration in fostering sustainable economic growth. She also commended BBCC for its ongoing efforts to strengthen the business community and expressed her continued support for the organization's future initiatives.

The evening featured a series of presentations by BBCC leaders on business development, technology, investment, funding opportunities, and bilateral trade.

Mr. Shipon Howlader, Director of BBCC, delivered a presentation on "IT Outsourcing and Technology Partnerships," highlighting the growing potential for technology collaboration between Canada and Bangladesh.

Mr. Tanvir Nawaz presented on "Bangladesh and Canada: Building the Next Chapter of Trade, Investment, and Partnership," emphasizing the importance of expanding bilateral trade, investment, and long-term economic cooperation.

Mr. Shahidul Islam Mintu, Director and Vice President of BBCC, delivered a presentation on "Business Funding Opportunities."

He discussed various government funding programs, grants, financing options, banking support, and export opportunities available to Canadian businesses. He encouraged entrepreneurs to take full advantage of these resources to expand their businesses, embrace innovation, and strengthen the economic contribution of the Bangladesh-Canadian business community.

Mr. Ferdous Ahmed, Director and Vice President of BBCC, spoke on "Bilateral Business Opportunities Between Canada and Bangladesh," highlighting the tremendous potential for investment, trade, and commercial partnerships between the two countries. In his presidential address, Mr. Alamgir Rahman reaffirmed BBCC's commitment to supporting entrepreneurs, promoting investment, facilitating business networking, and strengthening Canada–Bangladesh economic relations. He emphasized that BBCC will continue creating new opportunities for business growth, collaboration, and knowledge sharing for the Bangladesh-Canadian business community.

As a token of appreciation, the BBCC leadership team presented commemorative crests to the Chief Guest, His Excellency Mr. Md. Jashim Uddin, and the Guest of Honour, Ms. Doly Begum, MP, in recognition of their leadership, continued support, and contributions to strengthening Canada–Bangladesh relations and supporting the Bangladesh-Canadian business community.

The cultural segment featured outstanding performances by NRB Award-winning popular singers Shamit Barua and Mohuya Pariyal, whose lively and captivating performances delighted the audience and added a festive atmosphere to the evening.

The formal program concluded with closing remarks by Mr. Nasiruddin Mahmud, Director of BBCC. He expressed his sincere appreciation to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, distinguished speakers, sponsors, guests, volunteers, and members of the organizing committee for making the Business Gala Night a memorable success. He also reaffirmed BBCC's commitment to

promoting entrepreneurship, strengthening business collaboration, and advancing Canada–Bangladesh trade and investment relations.One of the highlights of the evening was the exciting Raffle Draw, during which several valuable prizes were presented

to lucky winners. The grand prize, a 75-inch LED Smart TV, was sponsored by Mr. Masud Mallik, Director of BBCC. An HP Slim Business Laptop was sponsored by Bangladesh Plaza, courtesy of Mr. Shahidul Islam Mintu, Director and Vice President

of BBCC, and Mr. Mohammad Abdul Awal. Tim Hortons Gift Cards were generously sponsored by Mr. Iqbal Roshd, Senior Vice President of BBCC.

The BBCC Business Gala Night 2026 concluded with renewed optimism and a shared commitment among business leaders and community members to further strengthen entrepreneurship, innovation, trade, investment, and economic cooperation between

Canada and Bangladesh. Participants expressed confidence that initiatives like this will continue to create meaningful business opportunities, foster stronger partnerships, and contribute to the long-term growth and success of the Bangladesh-Canadian business community.
