Number of COVID-19 infections in Italy tops 1.62 mln

ROME,  – As many as 19,347 COVID-19 cases were reported in Italy on Tuesday, bringing the national tally to 1,620,901, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

The active coronavirus infections here have been decreasing on a daily basis following restrictions imposed in early November to slow down the second wave of the pandemic.

The Italian health minister Roberto Speranza is set to outline a plan for a national coronavirus vaccination programme on Dec.2, according to local media.
