Railways Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan today said the government’s door is always open for talks on the demands of the railway staff.
“If necessary, we will sit with them again and their demands will also be discussed with the finance division,” he told media while visiting Kamalapur Railway Station.
Mentioning that the programme of Bangladesh Railway's running staff holding the passengers as hostage is regrettable, the Railways Advisor said that the common people are suffering more due to this.
He added, "We’ve already disseminate the information through media to reduce the suffering of passengers. Even then, if any passenger comes to the station, we have arrangement of BRTC buses considering their convenience so they can go to the routes that the railway has."
Fouzul Kabir said, “The demand of the staff for mileage allowance has been pending for a long time. We’ve already fulfilled many of their demands, and are ready to discuss the remaining demands.”
He continued, “Railways aren’t anyone's private property, and here is opportunity for discussion.”
The common passengers are facing difficulties more for the work abstention of the railway staff, he said, adding, “We want to resolve it quickly because Ijtema is ahead.”
BRTC Chairman Tajul Islam, Railways Secretary Md. Fahimul Islam, Railway Dhaka Divisional Manager Mohammad Mohiuddin Arif and other senior railway officials were present at the time.
