Nurturing Bengali culture stressed for eliminating social curses

RANGPUR, – Cultural personalities at a pre-rally discussion here today stressed on nurturing Bengali culture for eliminating social curses like violence against women and children, drug abuse, militancy and terrorism.

They viewed this at the discussion arranged by ‘Rangpur Nattya Kendra (RNK)’ at Town Hall premises to celebrate its 22nd founding anniversary and
launch a drama festival from November 2 to November 6 abiding by the health directives of the government.

Poet Dilruba Shahadat, Editor of ‘The Anjolika Sahittya Potra’, a popular weekly literary magazine, inaugurated the celebrations with hoisting of the
national flag and releasing balloons amid rendering the national anthem as the chief guest.

Presided over by President of RNK Engineer Mahbubul Alam Khan, General Secretary of Rangpur divisional unit of Bangladesh Nrittya Shilpi Sangstha Professor Md Azizul Islam addressed the occasion as the special guest.

Founding General Secretary of Rangpur Theatre Nizamul Islam Bablu, District Cultural Affairs Officer Nujhat Tabassum Rimu and poet Mahbubul Islam also addressed the discussion moderated by General Secretary of RNK Razzaque Murad.

The speakers said the cultural, literary and social organisations should expand periphery of nurturing Bengali cultural activities involving the young generations and youths to build a healthier society free from violence, drug abuse, militancy and terrorism.

They stressed on enriching Bengali culture through strengthening cultural movements, staging dramas and arranging cultural functions to establish  on- communal spirit in building a peaceful society. Engineer Alam called upon the literary personalities for writing time- befitting novels, dramas, essays, poems and cultural items to create a social renaissance to eliminate all sorts of curses from the society.

The chief guest suggested the cultural personalities for awakening the young generations through enhancing cultural activities everywhere to create stiff resistance against all kinds of social curses to build a peaceful society.
