Special security measures in Rangpur division: DIG

RANGPUR  – Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Bangladesh Police for Rangpur Range Devas Bhattacharya today said special security measures were taken to ensure peaceful law and order situation in Rangpur division.

“I have directed high officials of police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13), Police Bureau of Investigation (PIB) and other authorities concerned toward the direction,” the DIG said while addressing a press briefing at his conference room in the city.

Earlier, he presided over a meeting there on ‘Law and Order and Traffic Management Issues during observance of the National Mourning Day-2018 and celebration of Eid-ul-Azha festivity in all eight districts of Rangpur division under Rangpur Range.

The Superintendents of Police (SP) of all eight districts and other organisations of police under Rangpur Range, officials of Rangpur RAB-13 Battalion, Rangpur PBI office and other officials concerned attended the meeting and press briefing.

The DIG said the SPs and officials of police and other law enforcement agencies would take all necessary steps to ensure peaceful law and order for observance of the National Mourning Day-2018 on Wednesday allover Rangpur division.

“Special steps would be taken to prohibit arrangement of sacrificial animal markets by the road sides and ensure affixing banners at every vehicle carrying sacrificial animals mentioning points of departure and destination,” the DIG said.

To avert cheating with fake currency notes at any of the 281 sacrificial animal markets in Rangpur division, adequate number of fake currency note identification machines has been set up in those markets.

“In addition to this, police forces and intelligence personnel would be deployed at rail stations, bus terminals and other places to prevent activities of the ‘Malom or Oggyan’ party members,” he said.

Later, the DIG answered various questions and sought full cooperation of the media in maintaining peaceful law and order situation in the division.
