Int’l Day of Indigenous People observed in Sreemangal

The International Day of the World’s Indigenous People-2018 was observed in Sreemangal on Thursday with a call to ensure rights of the ethnic communities to education, health and land for their development in the society.
Marking the day a meeting organized by Bangladesh Adivasi Forum as held at Sreemangal Upazila Parishad premises. President of Bangladesh Adivasi Forum, Sreemangal unit Pankaj Kanda chaired the meeting while Sreemangal Upazila Parishad Chairman Randhir Kumar Dev addressed the meeting as the chief guest.
Among others, Upazila vice chairman Premsagar Hajra, upazila assistant commissioner (land) Ashekul Haque, vice president of Bangladesh Adivasi Forum, Sreemangal Partha Hajong, general secretary Hirinoy Singh and priest of Sreemangal Catholic Mission Nicholas Borai were also present at the meeting.
After the meeting a grand rally along with more than 500 indigenous people from different areas of the upazila paraded the main streets of the town.
