Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan has said about 700 people were detained on charge of arson attacks on buses, cars during BNP’s sit-in programme at entry points of the capital yesterday.

He said this while replying to a question after a meeting with the Election Monitoring Forum at his ministry conference room.

“There are CCTV cameras everywhere in the capital and we are taking support of those CCTV to identify the culprits,” he said adding none involved in vandalism would be spared.

The minister said anybody to be found innocent would be released from police stations and real culprits would be brought to book.

Replying to a question about an allegation that three people torched a bus in front of police, the home boss said, police caught the arson attackers red-handed.

BNP became isolated from mass people following the arson attacks carried out in 2014-2015, the minister observed saying if they (BNP) do the same thing again people would resist them.
