Younger generation will become digitally skilled: Dipu Moni

CodersTrust is playing a leading role in transforming the young generation of Bangladesh into a
skilled and digital workforce. The company is working to make the new generation people skilled
and provide employment, make them fit to adapt to the changing world, said Education Minister
Dr. Dipu Moni, MP.

She was speaking as the chief guest at the campus opening ceremony of CodersTrust in
Chattogram. CodersTrust has now brought its services to Chattogram, and it is a matter of joy
for the people here, Dipu Moni added.

The inaugural ceremony was held at Agrabad Hotel in the city on Tuesday (Jun 13).
CodersTrust’s Chittogram campus was also opened at Clifton Plaza in Agrabad on this day.
Referring to Bangladesh’s progress in information technology, the Education Minister said, “The
efficiency of this information technology is an important factor in the country’s education system.
CodersTrust is creating that opportunity here and ome will have scope to work on technology,
some on robotics and some on cybersecurity and more.”

Chaired by internationally reputed award-winning IT entrepreneur and the founder of
CodersTrust Aziz Ahmed, the function was also addressed, among others, by Waseqa Ayesha
Khan, MP, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Power,
Energy and Mineral Resources and Finance and Planning Secretary of Bangladesh Awami
League, Prof Dr Shirin Akhter, Vice Chancellor of Chittagong University, Professor Dr. Md.
Mashiur Rahman, Vice Chancellor of National University of Bangladesh, Dr. Aminur Rahman
idc, Divisional Commissioner of Chittagong; and Abul Bashar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman,
Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram as special guests.

Speaking on the occasion, Aziz Ahmed said that even after getting the highest degree of the
university, many people take 3 to 5 years to get jobs. Through CodersTrust, we are able to take
these students to the job market quickly with their digital skills.

In addition, those who are already in the world of work also have to constantly take new skills,
increase the current skills, every 5 years 45 percent of the world’s people have to be skilled in
something new to survive in the job market. If we don’t, we’re going to have to fall behind,” he
said.

Oscar Pedroso, CEO of Thimble, an international partner of CodersTrust, spoke at the event.
Sharing his experience of learning robotics while studying in school in the USA, he said, “By
working with CodersTrust, we want to encourage students to learn robotics and science and
skills at the school level in Bangladesh as well.”

Speaking as the special guest, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the
Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Waseqa Ayesha Khan said, “CodersTrust is
determined to take the young generation forward. It is very good news that the company has a
campus in Chittagong now.

We all need to work together in the development journey of Bangladesh, she said.
Chittagong University Vice-Chancellor Dr Shirin Akhtar said, “Our students need skill
development. About 30,000 students study at Chittagong University. We want our boys and girls
to move forward by increasing the skills in the IT sector,” adding that many people do not get
the expected jobs due to lack of skills.

Vice-Chancellor Dr Shirin Akhter expressed hope that the students of Chattogram University will
be able to ensure their skill development through CodersTrust. 

National University Vice-Chancellor Dr Mashiur Rahman said, “We need a radical and
revolutionary change in the way we think about information and technology. To bring the country
to digitized equality, the education and technology sectors need to be developed and exploited.
We have to establish a scientific and secular society.”

Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Dr Aminur Rahman said, “We want to build a Bangladesh
based on ICT knowledge and skills. Covid-19 has shown us how to change with the need of the
time. You have to increase your skills. Nothing can be done without skills.” He thanked
CodersTrust for setting up a campus in Chattogram.
