75 BNP men sued for attacking police in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM,  – Police have filed a case against 75 leaders and activists of BNP for attacking the law enforcers during the party’s human chain programme in front of the Chattogram press club on Wednesday afternoon.

The case was filed with Kotwali Police Station at night on the day for allegedly committing brutality, destruction of government property and assaulting police.

Mohammad Nezam Uddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali thana said police filed the case against the 75 BNP men over the attack on police. They detained 49 people from the spot and have been shown arrested in the case. The remaining 26 are fugitives. Earlier, Leaders and activists of BNP took to the street in front of the Chattogram press club to hold a human chain programme on Wednesday afternoon.

The vehicular movement came to a standstill on both sides of the street in the area when around 600 BNP men took part in the programme. At that time, police urged them to leave the street but they locked into a clash with police and started throwing brickbats on the law enforcers, sources said.
