After a long wait and numerous complications, Dhallywood superstar Shakib Khan’s much-discussed action thriller Operation Agneepath is finally set to return to the screen in a new form. Nearly a decade ago, the film generated considerable excitement among audiences after its initial shooting phase and teaser were released in Australia. However, production came to a halt midway due to various internal complications and disputes.
After a prolonged hiatus, the stalled project is now being revived under a new plan. Several changes will be made to the original story to bring it in line with contemporary audience expectations and modern filmmaking. New elements will also be incorporated. According to sources, the producer, director and Shakib Khan have reached an agreement in principle to restart the project.
Alongside changes to the story, there may also be some changes to the cast. However, Shakib Khan will remain the film’s main attraction. The makers are planning to begin principal photography next year.
Produced by Jane Alam under the banner of Vertex Media, the film will be directed by Ashikur Rahman. According to the makers’ plans, Operation Agneepath may be released nationwide at a convenient time outside the Eid season in 2027.
The film’s return after nearly a decade, featuring a new story, modern filmmaking techniques and Shakib Khan, has already generated renewed interest within the Dhallywood industry.
