72nd founding anniversary of AL celebrated in Rangpur

RANGPUR,  – The 72nd founding anniversary of Bangladesh Awami League (AL) was celebrated here today with limited programmes maintaining the health directives in the wake of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

The district and city units of AL hoisted the national and party flags at their respective offices and placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, brought out rallies and placed wreaths at Bangabandhu’s Mural on the Bangabandhu Square in the city.

Later, the district AL organised a brief discussion with its General Secretary Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju in the chair at the party office in Betpotti area of the city.

Advocate Raju discussed the glorious history of AL that brought independence for the nation under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to build a developed Sonar Bangla free from hunger, exploitation, injustice and deprivation.

Leaders of the district, city and upazila units AL, its associate bodies, including Swechchasebak League, Jubo League, Chhatra League, Mohila Awami League, Sramik League and other organisations also addressed the occasion.

The speakers said Bangabandhu and AL are inseparable as everlasting sources of all inspirations and the nation continues building a developed ‘Sonar Bangla’ under leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina braving the Covid-19 pandemic.

Advocate Raju discussed the splendid record of struggles of AL since its inception and said that the country achieved Independence by winning the War of Liberation in 1971 against the Pakistani occupation forces under leadership of Bangabandhu.

He called upon leaders and workers of AL and its associate bodies for ensuring welfare of common people and standing beside the poor, distressed and jobless people to assist them in tackling the situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Later, the city unit of AL organised a brief discussion at Bangabandhu Square with its President Shafiur Rahman Shafi in the chair.

Adviser of city AL AKM Mozammel Haque, its General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mondal, Vice-presidents Rezaul Karim Milon and Advocate Dilshad Mukul, Joint General Secretaries Nawshad Rashid and Nidhuram Adhikari addressed the discussion.

Besides, the district and city units of Mohila Awami League, Swechchasebak League, Sramik League, Jubo League, Chhatra League and other associate bodies celebrated the founding anniversary of AL abiding by the healthy directives in a befitting manner.
