Acclaimed director Chayanika Chowdhury is set to present a new Eid special telefilm titled “Abar Hobe Dekha”, based on a foreign story and written by Faria Hossain.
The telefilm revolves around Mahbub and Kobita, a loving couple whose deep emotional bond remains strong despite their age difference. Their only son, Mihir, shares a close friendship-like relationship with them and has long been in love with their neighbour Tuli.
Mihir has been living abroad for nearly six years, struggling with immigration-related complications that prevent him from returning home. Meanwhile, Mahbub suffers a severe heart attack followed by a stroke, leaving him unable to hear without a hearing aid.
As Kobita lovingly cares for her husband, Mahbub becomes increasingly anxious about whether he will be able to see his son again before dying. Relief arrives when Mihir informs the family that he is finally returning to Bangladesh in three days.
The joyful news sparks celebrations within the household. Kobita even visits Tuli’s family with a marriage proposal for the young couple. However, a new source of anxiety emerges for Mahbub when the battery of his hearing aid runs out and replacement batteries become unavailable for several days.
Fearing he may not hear his son’s first “Baba” upon returning home, Mahbub struggles emotionally while Kobita playfully enjoys his restlessness. Tuli, too, eagerly prepares for Mihir’s arrival.
But just as the family awaits his return, an unexpected phone call from Mihir’s number changes everything.
According to the synopsis, the telefilm explores grief, hope and the enduring belief that loved ones will meet again someday.
“Abar Hobe Dekha” will air on May 29, the second day of Eid-ul-Azha, on NTV at 2:20pm.
