DHAKA, —All of the cricketers and support staff of Sri Lanka team came back negative in the first of two Covid-19 tests, said a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official.

The team who are on three-day room quarantine will have another test tomorrow and subject to the result of the test, they will start practice for the three-match ODI series against hosts Bangladesh.

“The players and support staff of the Lankan team gave their sample yesterday and all came back negative today,” BCB chief physician Dr. Debashis Chowdhury said here today.

“They will go through another Covid-19 test tomorrow and if all returns are negative they can start practice from May 19,” he added.

Dr. Chowdhury also informed that both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka team members will undergo a corona test on May 22, just a day ahead of the first ODI.

While Bangladesh won’t take part in the corona test after that, the Sri Lanka team will go through another test before leaving this country. Sri Lanka however arrived in Dhaka with a corona negative certificate.
