30,810 infected with Covid-19, 27,469 cured in Khulna

KHULNA,  – With the detection of 77 new positive cases in all ten districts of the division, the total number of COVID-19 infected patients now hit 30,810 till this noon.

A total of 27,469 have been cured from the lethal virus infection and recovery rate now stands at 89.15 percent,” Assistant Director (Health) for Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS today.

The total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 30,810 with 77 new positive cases were reported after testing 209 samples at the Khulna Medical College Laboratory and two other COVID-19 laboratories in the division in the last 24 hours till this noon.

Of the total new positive cases, 44 were detected in Khulna followed by nine in Kushtia, seven in Jhenaidah, six in Narail, four each in Bagerhat and Jashore, one each in Chuadanga, Meherpur and Satkhira in the division.

With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the patients are 8,946 in Khulna, 6,219 in Jashore, 4,574 in Kushtia, 2,737 in Jhenaidah, 1,856 in Chuadanga, 1,789 in Narail, 1329 in Bagerhat, 1,262 in Satkhira, 1,204 in Magura and 894 in Meherpur, she added.

“Among the total 30,810 coronavirus infected persons, 3,821 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 27,469 have been recovered and 560 died while the rest are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, Dr. Ferdousi continued.

Talking to BSS today, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda Sultana said the number of total fatalities stands at 560 in the division with three more deaths were reported in Jashore, Bagerhat and Khulna on Tuesday.

The district-wise break-up of the death tolls are 144 in Khulna, 106 in Kushtia, 71 in Jashore, 50 in Jhenaidah, 49 in Chuadanga, 43 in Satkhira, 33 in Bagerhat, 23 in Narail,18 in Meherpur and 23 in Magura district.

“The average casualty rate among all 30,810 COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 1.81 percent in the division,” she mentioned.

On the other hand, a total of 33 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while others 30 were released in all ten districts of the division over the last 24 hours till 12 this noon.

A total of 74,100 people had, so far, been kept under home quarantine and isolation at hospital.

Of them, 73,006 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period and 3,821 are currently remaining in home or institutional quarantine in the division.
