Staff Reporter : Former Member of Parliament, prominent industrialist, and valiant freedom fighter MAH Selim (Silver Selim) has collected nomination forms for Bagerhat-1, 2, and 4 constituencies to participate in the upcoming National Parliamentary Elections. He purchased the three nomination forms from the Bagerhat Deputy Commissioner's office this Monday. His eldest son, Mehedi Hasan Prince, collected the forms on his behalf, accompanied by local party leaders and supporters.

It is noteworthy that MAH Selim, the owner of Silver Line Group and a resident of Mukhait village in Bagerhat Sadar Upazila, entered Bagerhat politics in the late 90s and was elected President of the District BNP. In the 2001 election, he was elected Member of Parliament for the Bagerhat-2 seat, defeating the influential leader Sheikh Helal Uddin, a cousin of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina. During his tenure as an MP, he established several institutions, including the Muniganj Bridge, the city protection embankment, Majeda Begum Agricultural Technology College, and Belayet Hossain Degree College.
After the BNP left power, he resigned from the post of District BNP President during the caretaker government's tenure. Subsequently, he remained away from politics due to the wrath of the Awami League. His announcement of returning to politics has created a sensation in Bagerhat, leading to a new political polarization in the region. People from all walks of life have welcomed his comeback.
Silver Selim stated:
"My commitment to the people of Bagerhat is immense. I want to use my experience to focus on industrialization, creating employment for the youth, and modernizing the health and education systems in this region. I view politics solely as a medium to serve the people."
He also mentioned that he has begun working on a far-reaching economic roadmap to improve local infrastructure and the standard of living ahead of the upcoming elections.
