RANGPUR  – The district police continues public awareness building campaign titled ‘No helmet, no petrol’ through various programmes to prevent road accidents and encourage use of helmets among motorcycle drivers.

As a part of the campaign launched few days ago, Police Super Mizanur Rahman and President of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu jointly led a rally participated by many people on the
streets here on Wednesday afternoon.

Additional Police Super (Special Branch) Abu Maruf Hasan, Additional Police Super (Circle A) Saifur Rahman Saif, Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Thana Mokhtarul Alam and Traffic-in-Charge Khan Md Mizanur Fahami were present,
among others.

Along with police officials, Mizanur Rahman and Titu Chowdhury greeted motorcycle riders wearing helmets with flowers, distributed stickers and awareness building leaflets and hanged banners, signboards and festoons with
‘No helmet, no petrol’ inscriptions at Parjatan Motel and other areas of the city.

On the occasions, the Police Super said, “The ‘No helmet-no-petrol’ programme will continue till motorcycle drivers of the district get 100 percent success in using helmets on their heads to become aware of fatal consequences of not wearing helmets.”

“Along with this, papers and documents of heavy and slow-paced vehicles are being examined on the roads and mobile courts being run on grounds on the ‘no compromise policy regarding violation of traffic laws’ to bring discipline on the roads,” he said.

“We want motorcycle drivers to use helmets compulsorily to reduce accidents and reduce the amount of casualties and damages,” he said adding that none would be spared anymore for violation of traffic rules in future.
