DMP chief warns of action for harassing innocents in anti-narcotics drive

DHAKA : Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia yesterday sounded a note warning of taking stern action if any member of law enforcement agencies is found guilty of harassing innocent persons in the name of anti-narcotics drive.

He, however, vowed to continue the drive until stamping-out the contraband drugs while distributing clothes among the destitute at Gulishtan area marking the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.

“Arrests of drug peddlers of Dhaka are being made with specific information. All such as drug peddlers, their accomplices, masterminds and patrons will be brought to book however powerful they might be,” he asserted. He also vowed to take tougher action against members of police if any of them is found involved in the drug trading.

The DMP chief informed that there is no network of militancy in Bangladesh as police successfully broke down their nationwide network, saying, “The drug trading will be wiped out from the country likewise the militancy.”
