Chirkut's new album 'Bhalobasha Shomogro' after 8 years

TBT REPORT

The band Chirkut has been in turmoil for several years. Emon Chowdhury left the band two years ago. Following Emon’s path, Zahid Nirob left Chirkut last year. Drummer and music producer Pavel Arin has focused on a solo career alongside the band. However, Chirkut’s activities have not stopped. The group’s leader and vocalist Sharmin Sultana Sumi is moving forward with new members.

Chirkut band has been around for almost two decades. In this long time, they have released only three albums. Two years ago, Chirkut announced their fourth album. They had announced that work on the album titled ‘Pendulam’ had begun. That ‘Pendulam’ has finally changed into 'Bhalobasha Shomogro'. The first song ‘Dami’ from Chirkut’s new album 'Bhalobasha Shomogro' was released yesterday.

Chirkut’s fourth album has 10 songs. The first song from this album, Dami, has been released in the form of a music video on the band’s YouTube channel. The other songs are titled ‘Uttareh Bhalo Na’, ‘Dak’, ‘Agun’, ‘Hiya’, ‘Mon Ken Dile Na’, ‘Asukh Sere Jaye’, ‘Bhalobasi Tomayi’, ‘Dardi’ and ‘Din Jaye’. Three songs will be released in the form of music videos, while the rest will be available in the form of lyrical videos. The songs will be released together this week.

Sharmin Sultana Sumi said about the name of the album, ‘As much as I see the world, I feel that love is the greatest energy. Without love, we have nothing to say, nothing to do. Let this be our language in songs. That is why I named our album All Love. Love is not just between lovers. Love is universal. The songs in this album are about different kinds of love. Everyone participated in each song. It was created after various discussions.’

In this online era, bands are more interested in releasing single tracks instead of albums. However, Chirkut has gone its own way. It has arranged the album with 10 songs, which will be released together. Sumi also had to hear questions about this. In this context, she said, ‘Many people are asking me, why an album at this time? And why 10 songs? Nobody does this now. The answer is, I haven’t worked for so long thinking about it. Chirkut is now 23 years old. Even in the beginning, I didn’t think about it that much. I like singing. I have done the song. I never thought about how it will go on CD or online. The album means our words, our thoughts. Our language is music. There is no artificiality in the songs I have written and composed. I did what came from my heart. I never did anything to become a hit. Chirkut’s thoughts are beyond the typical market concept. That is why Chirkut’s songs connect all people in the country and abroad in the same way.’

Chirkut’s first album, ‘Chirkutnama’, was released in 2010. The second album, ‘Jadur Shahar’, was released in 2013. Finally, the group’s third album, ‘Udhao’, was released in 2017.
