In 2020, director Syed Ahmed Shawki came into the spotlight with the web series ‘Taqdeer’. Then, the web series ‘Karagar’ brought him further recognition as a director. After almost three years, Shawki’s new web series ‘Gulmohar’ is being released. Through this series, West Bengal actor Saswata Chatterjee will be seen in any content in Bangladesh for the first time. It also features Sara Zaker, Intekhab Dinar, Mostafizur Noor Imran, Sushma Sarkar, Mir Naufel Ashrafi Jisan, Sarika Sabah, Mostafa Monowar and many others.
Gulmohar is based on a familiar family story. It is associated with mystery, suspicion and politics. The greed for power loosens the bonds of family relationships. The director said that this is his largest-scale work so far. OTT platform Chorki announced the names of the actors of Gulmohar by releasing the poster. The release date has also been announced. Gulmohar will start streaming on Chorki at 12 am on May 14.
Actor Saswata Chatterjee came to Bangladesh for the first time to act in the Gulmohar series. Saswata regularly acts in Bollywood and South Indian films as well as Tollywood. He agreed to act in the Gulmohar series after hearing the story. Knowing that it would be shot in Bangladesh, he became even more interested in the work. Saswata said, “It is a family story. There is a lot in it, my character has emotion. Such work is rarely done these days. Along with this, another thing that interested me a lot is shooting in Bangladesh. Before the work, I asked, where will the shooting be? They said Bangladesh. I agreed to work as soon as I heard it.”
Actor Intekhab Dinar said, “Gulmohar is a story of trust and distrust within a family and a conspiracy surrounded by mystery. Shawki has portrayed that story in such a way that he can be called a magician.”
Actress Sushma Sarkar revealed the story of the series a little more. She said, ‘How power, greed, and jealousy distort people’s trust, love, and human relationships; you can find the picture here. Shawki’s Gulmohar is therefore the story of another relationship beyond blood ties.
