Meeting among BOU World Bank and DYD held on skill development of the Youth

A meeting was held with representatives of the Bangladesh Open University (BOU), World Bank and Directorate of Youth Development (DYD) develop the youth of Bangladesh who are not in education, employment or training NEET as skilled manpower Implements SSC (Vocational) program.
On Tuesday (November 20) at the Dhaka regional office of BOU, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam chaired the meeting. During the meeting, he stated, this meeting is relevant, contemporary and timely for skill development of the youth". The objective of BOU is to extend educational opportunities to the people of underserved and remote areas, diverse professions, minority communities, marginalized groups, all ages, individuals with physical challenges, struggling students and working adults.
Dr. Obaidul Islam also highlighted the potential of youth in Bangladesh, the labor market and profession in abroad, the causes of inefficiency, obstacles, the need for knowledge and training contemporary technologies.
The meeting was attended by BOU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Dil Rowshan Zinnat Ara Nazneen, Project Director of Economic Acceleration and Resilience AR Kazi Mukhlesur Rahman, Rawnak Jahan, Consultant EARN Project and Mohammad Mamun Mia, Project Management Specialist; Dr. Md. Shafiqul Alam, Registrar of BOU,
Professor Dr. Sabina Yasmin, Director, BOU EARN Cell, Professor Dr. Md. Sirajul Islam, Director IQAC and Assistant Professor Dr. Mizanur Rahman along with other officials wore present. It was decided in this meeting to sign an agreement between BOU and the Department of Youth Development on 04 December, 2024 to-implement educational programs nom-01 January 2025 with the aim of initially training and empowering 1 (one) lac youth through Bangladesh Open University.
