COVID-19 cases rises to 726 in Khulna Division

KHULNA, – The number COVID-19 confirmed cases has surged to 726 in Khulna division with 31 more new cases detected after testing samples at three COVID -19 laboratories in the division in last 24 hours till noon today.

Health officials said the newly detected 31 COVID-19 patients include 11 in Chuadanga, eight in Jashore, six in Kustia, four in Narail, one each in Bagerhat and Jhenaidah districts under the division.

Talking to BSS today, Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter said a total of 327 COVID-19 patients have so far fully recovered out of the total 726 infected people in Khulna$ division.

Of the cured patients, 36 are in Khulna, nine in Bagerhat, one in Satkhira, 94 in Jashore, 38 in Jhenaidah, 18 in Magura, 18 in Narail, 31 in Kushtia, 77 in

Chuadanga and five in Meherpur districts in the division.

“We received 188 samples at Khulna Medical College (KMC) and other samples in Jashore and Kushtia laboratories in the last 24 hours till noon today and 31 of those were found COVID-19 positive,” Dr. Ferdousi said.

The district-wise breakups of the COVID-19 patients stand at 153 are in Khulna, 39 in Bagerhat, 48 in Satkhira, 127 in Jashore, 54 in Jhenaidah, 34 in Magura, 30 in Narail, 104 in Kushtia, 112 in Chuadanga and 25 in Meherpur, she said.

Khulna Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda Sultana said the average recovery rate of COVID-19 patients currently stands at 45.04 percent while fatality rate 1.38 percent in the division.

“Among the total 726 coronavirus infected persons, 127 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals after the release of 327 recovered patients and 10 deaths while the rest of the patients are remaining in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, she said.

A total of 37,451 people were put in quarantine since the beginning, and of them, 31,804 were released so far and 5,647 are remaining in home or institutional quarantine in the division.

Ater getting a total of 1,10,801 pieces of personal protective equipment so far, we have already distributed 72,159 pieces of those among the health service providers with a stock of 38,642 pieces in the division

At the same time, a total of 10 fatalities were reported so far with four in Khulna, two in Bagerhat, one each in Chuadanga and Narail and two in Meherpur districts, she added.
