Lakshmipur Police Super’s office at risk of collapse

Police Super’s office in Lakshmipur is at high risk as the roof can collapse at any given moment. Portions of ceiling have loosened and cracks have developed on various parts of the building. The activities of the district police is going on at this condition.
If the renovation work is not done immediately, the building may collapse at any moment and there is a high danger of major accidents. According to the Lakshmipur Public Works Department, they constructed the two-storey building of the office of Police Super in 1986-87 fiscal year. CID office was built on the third floor of the west side of the building of the in 2013-14 fiscal year. At that time cracks appeared in different parts of the building. At the same time, portions of the ceiling and walls fell apart. In the last fiscal year 2017-18, the expansion work of the new 3rd floor on the east side of the building was started.
During the construction process the cracks in the building continued to grow. The building has become seriously worn out for not being reformed for a long time. In the meantime, a police constable was injured when a portion of the ceiling of the reception room on the second floor fell. Almost all the rooms including the confidential section of the police, the main assistant room and accounts room are now in such a situation. Rain water is damaging the furniture and important papers. Polythene is being used to protect these important things. Officers of the office, the force and the official employees are continuing their work in constant fear and panic.
Lakshmipur Superintendent of Police (SP) ASM Mahtab Uddin has confirmed about portions about the ceiling and walls being fell apart. He said that the senior officials and public works department are inspecting the building and trying to take decision about it as soon as possible. But he is also paniced about the fact that major accidents may occur any time. Executive Engineer of Public Works Department Abdus Sattar said that the office of the Police Super has been inspected and will be reformed within the next few days.
