Durga Puja ends with immersion of idols in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, – Idols of Goddess Durga are being immersed peacefully in the port city and district today after five-day colorful and joyous celebration of Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of Bangalee Hindu community.

In city’s Patenga and Khalurghat sea beach areas, immersion are being held in the afternoon with presence of a large number of people of the community of all ages.

Earlier, hundreds of Hindu devotees attired with their best dresses thronged different puja mandaps, including JM Sen Hall and Chatteshary
Temple, in the city from morning to bid farewell and seek blessings of Goddess Durga.

This year, some 270 puja mandaps were erected in the city and 1,874 at 15 upazilas of the district.
