President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today called upon BGMEA, BKMEA, BTMA and all stakeholders to work together to address the existing challenges in the garments sector.

“Coordinated initiatives are needed to keep the country’s growing economy moving forward so that all can be benefited equally,” he said.

President Fakhrul Islam made the call when a delegation of Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) led by its President Mohammad Hatem paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban this afternoon, President’s Press Secretary Md. Sarwar Alam told BSS.

The President said the current government is pursuing business-friendly policies in the financial, industrial and business sectors to strengthen the country’s economy, create employment and provide businessmen with opportunities to recover losses.

He also stressed the need to reduce bank interest to ensure necessary protection for sustaining growth and increasing investment in the country.

He urged industrial owners to move towards alternative energy sources including solar power to resolve the energy crisis.
The President thanked BKMEA for playing an important role in earning foreign currency for the country.
