A star-studded film titled Andhar is currently in production. Directed by Raihan Rafi, the film features prominent actors including Siam Ahmed, Chanchal Chowdhury and Nazifa Tushi. Mostofa Monowar, Afsana Mimi, Farrukh Ahmed Rehan and Gazi Rakayet are also part of the cast.

The film has already generated considerable interest among audiences and has been making headlines even before its release. The release of its poster and teaser further fuelled curiosity among viewers.

The filmmakers had earlier announced that Andhar would hit cinemas in October.

However, the recent silence surrounding the film’s promotional activities has raised questions about whether Andhar will actually be released during the upcoming Durga Puja. Several sources suggest that instead of Puja, the film may arrive during an Eid holiday next year. The big-budget project is reportedly being positioned for a major festive release.

Amid the speculation over its release date, director Raihan Rafi was contacted and advised speaking with the producers regarding the matter. Shakib Chowdhury, one of the film’s screenwriters and producers, was subsequently contacted.

Regarding the release date, he said, “We are not officially saying anything about the release right now. We had announced October, and that remains the official announcement for now. If the date changes, we will inform everyone in due course.”

When asked when in October Andhar might reach cinemas, Shakib Chowdhury declined to give a definite answer. He said the team is currently prioritising ensuring that the film is not released in haste.

“Andhar is a completely new kind of film for Bangladesh. It will arrive at the right time. Sometimes, after watching a film, audiences say, ‘The work seemed rushed; they could have taken a little more time.’ We are doing our utmost to ensure nobody says that about Andhar,” Shakib said.

He added, “I stayed in Mumbai for 13 days and returned only yesterday (September 20). I will have to go again. There is a lot of VFX work left, so the work is progressing at full pace. Let’s see.”
