Twenty-eight years after its release, the Bangladesh-India joint production Hothat Brishti, one of the most successful films of its time, is returning in a new form. Renamed Abar Hothat Brishti, the film retains the original story but features a different setting.
Directed this time by Kamruzzaman, the new film is jointly produced by Ashirbad Chalachchitra and Impress Telefilm. According to the director, Abar Hothat Brishti will be released in cinemas across the country on October 2.
Directed by Basudev Chatterjee, Hothat Brishti introduced a new generation of actors to audiences. In particular, the chemistry between Ferdous Ahmed and Priyanka Trivedi, who played the lead roles, won viewers’ hearts. This time too, two newcomers have been cast in the central roles. Arian plays Ferdous’s character, while Radifa takes on Priyanka Trivedi’s role.
Expressing optimism about the new pairing, director Kamruzzaman said, “Arian and Radifa are doing very well. They are giving their best and making every effort. If the audience embraces them, our efforts will be successful. Personally, I believe Bangla cinema is about to get two new actors.”
Azad Abul Kalam, Farzana Chhobi, Cristiano Tanmoy, Kayes Arzu, Mou Khan and Jhuna Chowdhury, among others, also feature in Abar Hothat Brishti.
The songs of Hothat Brishti were also hugely popular. The film featured six songs, including Chhoto Chhoto Shopner Neel Megh, Ekdin Shopner Din and Sonali Prantore. Three of those six songs are being remade for the new film, along with two new songs.
