From CUET to California, the technology professional is working across artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, machine learning and risk-based decision-making

DHAKA: Bangladeshi technology professional, cybersecurity analyst and artificial intelligence researcher Md Naimul Ahsan is building an international career in advanced AI, machine learning and enterprise cybersecurity in the United States, combining professional experience with ongoing research in emerging technology and risk management.

Ahsan is the son of Md Kamrul Ahsan, a retired Chief Engineer of the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), and Farida Ahsan, Director of South Apollo Medical College & Hospital.

He completed his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology (CUET) in 2014. He later moved to the United States for higher studies and earned a Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) specialising in Cybersecurity from Westcliff University in California.

During his master's programme, Ahsan achieved a GPA of 3.92 out of 4.00 and received the Summa Cum Laude distinction. He was also awarded the Founder’s Scholarship for Information Technology.

Alongside his corporate career, Ahsan has developed an active research portfolio in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and data-driven decision-making. His current research focuses on “Securing Open Banking: Quantifying Third-Party API Exposure and Its Impact on Operational Loss Risk.”

The research addresses security risks associated with third-party application programming interfaces (APIs) within open banking ecosystems and examines how such exposure can be connected with operational loss risk.

His wider scholarly work includes research involving deep learning frameworks, supply chain forecasting, temporal drift in financial fraud prevention and multimodal contextual embeddings.

Another significant research initiative involves a joint project funded by Deep Neuron Research & Consultancy. The project focuses on developing an Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) framework for risk-based decision-making in engineering project management. Ahsan is serving as one of six key researchers involved in the initiative.

With nearly nine years of professional experience, Ahsan currently works as IT Manager & Cybersecurity Analyst at BulkBuddy LLC in Los Angeles, California. His responsibilities include IT operational strategy, cybersecurity, threat intelligence and enterprise technology management.

His technical work also involves automated sequence neural networks and Explainable AI verification layers. Techniques such as SHAP and LIME are used in his work to improve the interpretability of machine-learning models and examine potential algorithmic bias.

Ahsan began his professional career in Bangladesh as an Executive in Enterprise IT Solutions at Omega Exim Ltd. There, he worked on Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) and storage solutions for telecom and banking platforms.

He later served as a Project Manager at BB IT, where he was involved in the delivery of more than 30 web, mobile and software projects. Before moving to the United States, he worked as Manager of IT Product Management & Business Development at Excel Technologies Ltd. in Dhaka, where he handled enterprise-level IT networking and infrastructure solutions.

His professional qualifications include the Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI), CompTIACybersecurity Analyst (CySA+), and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).

He is also associated with the PMI Los Angeles Chapter, the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), and the Bangladesh Computer Society (BCS).

Looking ahead, Ahsan is focusing on secure AI implementation, emerging adversarial threats, deepfake-related anomalies and quantitative risk-based decision-making frameworks. His professional and research activities reflect a broader effort to connect artificial intelligence with cybersecurity and enterprise risk management.

From his academic foundation at CUET to his professional and research activities in California, Ahsan’s career illustrates the growing participation of Bangladeshi technology professionals in the global AI and cybersecurity ecosystem.
