LGRD minister seeks increased technical cooperation with Norway

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan today expressed the expectation of increasing technical cooperation with Norway to make the local government system more effective and stronger.

He made expectation when Norwegian Ambassador to Bangladesh Arald Gulbrandsen met him at his office at the Secretariat, said PID release.

The meeting discussed the local government system, the upcoming local government elections, technical assistance in various development projects and increasing women's participation in local government, among other issues.

The minister said necessary cooperation and technical assistance are important to strengthen the local government system. 

Norway's experience in various fields could be helpful for Bangladesh in this regard, he said.

He also stressed the importance of increasing women's participation in local government.

Deputy Head of the Norwegian Mission in Bangladesh Alexander Falck-Bilden, Political Adviser Sarwar Jahan Chowdhury, Local Government Division Additional Secretary Dr. Abu Nasr Mohammad Abdullah and senior officials of the ministry were present at the meeting.
