“I want to move forward in music by earning people’s love through Bangla songs. I want to win a place in everyone’s heart with my music. I want to spend every moment surrounded by songs and melodies.”
Popular singer and composer HR Fardin Khan made the remarks in an exclusive interview with The Bangladesh Today.
HR Fardin Khan’s full name is Hafijur Rahman. He was born and raised in Madarganj upazila of Jamalpur.
Fardin began learning music on his own at an early age. He started performing on stage with “Desher Pother,” a band formed with his friends. Later, he formed another band, Band 71. He eventually moved to Dhaka, where he became busy working on original songs.
The singer began singing at the age of 10, initially learning and practising on his own. He later formed a band in Jamalpur before starting his professional journey with original music under the guidance of noted composer Mahidul Islam Mon.
So far, around 450 songs featuring Fardin’s vocals have been released, while more than 400 songs composed by him have also been published.
Many established and emerging singers have performed songs composed by Fardin. They include Shafi Mondol, Monir Khan, Asif, Dolly Sayontoni, Akhi Alamgir, Raju Mondol, Imon Khan, Akash Mahmud, Shams Bhai, Gagon Sakib, Salma, Baul Sukumar, Laila, Ongkon, Meghla, Samia, Mariam, Nobel and Anik Sutradhar, among others.
Fardin’s first original album was titled Sukher Ghor. He later recorded songs written and composed by many renowned lyricists and composers in the country.
They include Hasan Matiur Rahman, Rafiquzzaman, Milton Khandaker, Rafiqul Islam Fuad, Lanju Shamim, Suhel Khan, Joy Rafi, Russell Kabir, Shamsuddin Hira, Liaquat Ali Biswas, Ahmed Rizvi, Plabon Qureshi, Prosenjit Mondol, Salehin Saju, Mahfuz Imran, Aminul Islam Mintu, Sohel Shah, Mahidul Hasan Mon, HR Liton, Mitu Rahman Monsad, Tanvir Ahmed, Ahmed Khasru, Zakaria Hossain Joy, Salauddin Sagar, Salam Sarker, Jibon Dewan, Sajib Adhikari, Ronok Raihan, Ashik Mahmud and Manik Chan, among others.
Some of Fardin’s popular songs include Tor Lagiya Dile Lage Tan, Dukkho Jodi Bikri Hoito, Dukkho Jodi Bikri Hoito 2, Lokkhi Bhabi Jan, Ahare, Sona Bondhure, Diler Rani and O Jan Re O Maya Boro Kothin Jinish Re.
Fardin has also released an original Hindi song written, composed and arranged by HR Liton. He performed the duet with Rishita Saha of Kolkata’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. More than 50 of Fardin’s songs are currently awaiting release.
Asked about his future plans, Fardin said he loves Bangla music and wants to remain connected with it for the rest of his life.
“I love Bangla songs and want to stay with Bangla music until the last day of my life. If I receive everyone’s love, I will continue singing with the hope of finding a place in their hearts. I want to remain surrounded by music and melodies. I have only one message for everyone: listen to Bangla songs and continue practising and nurturing Bangla music. Please keep me in your prayers,” he said.
