A new film titled “Lajja” is set to be produced jointly by renowned production houses Impress Telefilm and Jaaz Multimedia. The film will be directed by filmmaker MH Khokon.
The contract-signing ceremony for the project was held recently at the Channel i office in the capital. The event was attended by Impress Telefilm and Channel i Managing Director and children’s author Faridur Reza Sagar, Jaaz Multimedia chairman Abdul Aziz, and other industry representatives.
Abdul Aziz has written the story of “Lajja”. Popular actresses Azmeri Haque Badhon and Nusraat Faria will play the two central characters in the film.
According to the production team, shooting for the film is scheduled to begin on 20 September. However, further details regarding the shooting schedule, supporting cast and other aspects of the production will be announced as work progresses.
The filmmakers are planning to release “Lajja” in cinemas next year. Following its theatrical run, the film will also be made available to audiences on the OTT platform iScreen.
Producer Abdul Aziz said that “Lajja” is based on a socially conscious story and aims to address an important issue through an engaging cinematic narrative. He added that the film’s release date has not yet been finalised.
The collaboration between Impress Telefilm and Jaaz Multimedia has generated interest among film enthusiasts, particularly with Badhon and Faria taking on the lead roles.
Both actresses have established themselves as prominent figures in Bangladesh’s contemporary entertainment industry through their work in films, television and digital productions.
The production team said more information about the film, including its storyline, characters and other cast members, will be revealed gradually as production moves forward.
