Hania Aamir marks a decade in showbiz with music debut

Pakistani actor Hania Aamir has made her official music debut with “Pablo”, a Punjabi hip-hop track in which she addresses the criticism and scrutiny surrounding her public image.

Released on Wednesday (September 9), the song was written and composed by Aamir herself, marking a new creative chapter as she celebrates 10 years in the entertainment industry.

“Pablo” begins with a soft piano melody before shifting into an upbeat Punjabi rap. In the song, Aamir responds to people who have described her as “fake” and questioned her personality and guarded public image. She also references her popularity and the attention she receives from fans.

One of the song’s most notable lines sees Aamir addressing her critics directly: “Assi hassde te tussi pichhe sarhde-sarhde. Assi chill ay te roz panga lai re ne.” The line roughly translates to, “We’re laughing while you’re back there fuming. We’re chilling while you keep trying to pick a fight.”

Aamir also references her “Pindi attitude” and the attention it receives in India, using the track to present a confident and carefree response to her detractors.

The song’s most unexpected moment comes towards the end, when Indian reality television personality Rakhi Sawant appears in the outro with a message for Aamir. Sawant praises her beauty and confidence, calls her a “lioness” and encourages her not to be affected by her critics.

For the official music video, Aamir also took on the role of director. Mohammad Mohtashim handled associate direction, cinematography, editing and grading, while Kumail Abbas produced, mixed and mastered the track.

With “Pablo”, Aamir has added music to a career that has so far largely centred on acting and modelling, using her debut single to respond to public scrutiny on her own terms.
