Orlando, FLORIDA: Journalist Mynul Islam has been honored by the Federation of Bangladeshi Associations in North
America (FOBANA) for his outstanding contribution to journalism and his work in covering the Bangladeshi
community in North America and major international events.
The award was presented to Mynul Islam during the Gala Night and Opening Ceremony of the 40th FOBANA
Convention, held in Kissimmee, Florida.
The recognition highlights his extensive career in journalism, coverage of major international conferences and events,
and his efforts to bring the stories, achievements, challenges, and activities of Bangladeshi Americans to a wider
audience.
Mynul Islam currently serves as a Special Correspondent and Anchor for Channel i USA. Over the course of his
journalism career, he has covered major international conferences, high-level meetings, and global events in the United
States and several other countries.
His international reporting experience includes coverage of the United Nations General Assembly and other UN
programs, as well as major international conferences and events involving global leaders and institutions. He has also
covered significant international gatherings involving issues of global politics, economics, development, and the
Bangladeshi diaspora.
Mynul Islam also has experience in international sports. He has worked as a FIFA Accreditation Volunteer, gaining
experience in accreditation and event-related operations associated with international football.
Before moving to the United States, Mynul Islam held several key positions in Bangladesh’s television media industry.
He served as an Assignment Editor at Gazi Satellite Television (GTV) and worked as a Staff Reporter at Ekushey
Television (ETV). His professional experience includes field reporting, news planning, assignment coordination,
editorial work, television journalism, and presentation.
In the United States, Mynul Islam is also involved in media initiatives. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of The Bangla
Hour and BHTV and Executive Editor of BanglaHour.com. Through these platforms, he covers issues concerning
Bangladeshi Americans, community activities, social and cultural events, as well as important developments in
Bangladesh and the United States.
Speaking after receiving the award, Mynul Islam said, “Journalism is not merely a profession for me; it is a
responsibility to give people a voice. I have had the opportunity to work in Bangladesh, the United States, and on the
international stage. This recognition from FOBANA is a great honor and a source of pride in my journalism career. It
will inspire me to continue practicing responsible, objective, and professional journalism.”
The 40th FOBANA Convention brought together Bangladeshi Americans from across the United States, along with
community leaders, journalists, cultural personalities, professionals, and distinguished guests. The convention featured
a variety of cultural, social, and community programs highlighting the contributions and achievements of Bangladeshi
Americans in North America.
The FOBANA recognition adds another milestone to Mynul Islam’s longstanding career in journalism and
international news coverage.
