“Widow’s Bay” led the second night of the 78th Emmy Awards with eight wins on Sunday, while “DTF St. Louis” collected six and “Spider-Noir” took five as the Creative Arts Emmys continued in Los Angeles.
The ceremony was held on September 6 at the Peacock Theater at LA LIVE, with awards recognising artistic and technical achievements across television. The first night took place on September 5, while the main Primetime Emmy ceremony is scheduled for September 14.
Apple TV’s “Widow’s Bay”, a comedy-horror series set on a New England island, won eight awards, including Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for Betty Gilpin. Its other wins came in casting, production design, sound editing, sound mixing, cinematography, music supervision, and music composition.
“DTF St. Louis” followed with six awards. David Harbour and Linda Cardellini won for their supporting performances in the limited or anthology series, while creator Steve Conrad received awards for writing and directing. The series also won for picture editing and cinematography.
“Spider-Noir” collected five awards, including Outstanding Cinematography for a Series, Outstanding Stunt Coordination for Comedy Programming, Outstanding Title Design, Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Single Episode and Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series.
Julie Andrews added another Emmy to her career tally, winning Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance for her role as Lady Whistledown in “Bridgerton”. It was her second consecutive victory in the category for the role, following her 2025 win.
One of the evening’s most notable moments came when Rob Reiner won Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series posthumously for his role as Albert in “The Bear”. It was his third Emmy and his first acting win since 1978. Reiner’s victory also made him the first actor to receive a posthumous acting Emmy since Raul Julia in 1995.
Shailene Woodley won Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for “Paradise”, while Ernest Harden Jr. took Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for “The Pitt”. “South Park” won Outstanding Animated Program.
“The Pitt” and “Pluribus” each won four awards. “Beef”, “Margo’s Got Money Troubles” and “Palm Royale” collected three apiece, while “Bridgerton”, “Fallout” and “Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal” won two each.
The Television Academy also introduced the Legacy Award, with “I Love Lucy” becoming its inaugural recipient. The new honour recognises a television programme whose influence has had a lasting impact on audiences, culture and the industry.
The September 5 and 6 ceremonies will be edited into a single Creative Arts Emmy broadcast on FXX on September 12. The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Mariska Hargitay, will take place on September 14 at the Peacock Theater.
