Land Minister Md. Mizanur Rahman Minu has said the government is giving the highest priority to transparency in government land allocation and land acquisition, protection of public interest and balanced land use.

He stressed the need for transparency in land acquisition to prevent public dissatisfaction and instructed officials to remain vigilant in protecting the environment and agricultural land.

The minister made the remarks while addressing the 157th meeting of the Central Land Allocation Committee at the Ministry of Land today. 

State Minister for Land Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin, Senior Secretary A S M Saleh Ahmed and senior officials from different ministries and divisions attended the meeting.
 
The committee approved several proposals for acquiring land for development projects in Chattogram, Narayanganj, Netrakona and other districts.

In Chattogram, it approved land acquisition for projects to address waterlogging in the city and upgrade the Chaturi-CUFL-Karnaphuli Dry Dock-Fakirnihat national highway. 

It also approved 0.0750 acre in Netrakona for construction of a 132 kV power transmission line.

In Narayanganj, the committee gave prior approval for acquiring 0.37 acre for Nazma Paper and Board Mills and final approval for 1.8652 acres for Meghna Economic Zone.
 
The meeting also approved more than 50 bighas of land acquisition proposals from various districts. 

The minister said development projects must acquire land through due process while minimising pressure on agricultural land and the environment. 

He called for a balance between development, public interest, environmental protection and preserving agricultural land for future generations.
