A telefilm titled Shomoy Ektu Thamo is being produced to celebrate filmmaker Chayanika Chowdhury's 25th year in directing. Based on a story by Iffat Arefin Mahmud, the telefilm stars Afzal Hossain, Zakia Bari Mamo, Farzana Chhobi, Riya and Mosharraf. Actress Rosie Siddiqui will also appear as a guest artist.
Filming is currently underway at various locations across Dhaka, including Mirpur and Bashundhara. The story follows a celebrity architect who returns home after appearing on a talk show one night. On the way, he meets Dr Ayaz, a teacher at an engineering university whom he already knows. Their reunion after 15 years sets off a series of amusing incidents.
Shomoy Ektu Thamo will air on Channel i on September 18. The telefilm is being produced by Gangchil Drama and Cinema.
Speaking about the new telefilm, Chayanika Chowdhury said, "The story is extraordinary, and some very talented actors are working on it. Afzal Bhai [Afzal Hossain] has honoured me by taking part in this project. With everyone's support, it is possible to create good work. I hope audiences will enjoy the telefilm."
Reflecting on her 25-year career, she added, "Twenty-five years of directing has not been only about comfort. There have been hardships, sorrow, support and love along the way. At every turn, there were good people who extended their hands to me. Holding on to their support, along with my own efforts and hard work, I have been able to move forward. I still haven't made the best work of my life. There is still much more good work to do."
She further said, "I am grateful to the producers and television channels for allowing me to celebrate my silver jubilee in the industry.
They are partners in my happiness. I am deeply grateful to the Almighty that I have still been able to continue working after 25 years."
Earlier, to mark her 25 years in directing, Chayanika Chowdhury made the dramas Jochhnay Fera, written by Shafikur Rahman Shantanu; Bishonno Megh, written by Iffat Ara Tanvi; and Prothom Dekhar Por, written by Ahmed Touqir.
