CMUJ hails Kader Gani for assuming office of BSS MD and chief editor

Chattogram Metropolitan Union of Journalists (CMUJ) has extended its congratulations to journalist leader Kader Gani Chowdhury on his appointment as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Editor of the state-run news agency, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).

In a message of congratulations today, CMUJ President Mohammad Shahnowaz and General Secretary Saleh Noman said, "Kader Gani Chowdhury's courageous and robust leadership, demonstrated over many years as the Secretary General of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), in safeguarding the rights, professional dignity, and freedom of the media, will serve as a significant example in the movement of journalism."

His sacrifices and fearless leadership, particularly during the anti-fascist movement, will be etched in the history of the democratic struggle of this nation.

His proactive involvement in advocating for freedom of expression and the establishment of professional rights has solidified his status as a proven leader within the journalist community.

The CMUJ leaders said, "Kader Gani Chowdhury's unwavering stance and leadership in various professional movements, including the anti-fascist movement, had been resolute."

The position he adopted regarding the professional freedom and dignity of journalists, despite the violence of the previous fascist regime, has significantly impacted not only the journalistic community but also the broader professional movement.

They noted that Kader Gani's appointment as the head of BSS comes with significant responsibilities at a pivotal moment.

They expressed optimism that, with his experience, professionalism, and courageous leadership, BSS will evolve into a more objective, trustworthy, public interest-oriented, and modern state news agency.

Besides, the leaders of CMUJ hoped that under Kader Gani's leadership, BSS will more effectively amplify the voices of those outside power, address critical national interest issues, and highlight the realities of marginalized communities.
