Staff Correspondent
Young nasheed singer and video director Ataur Rahman Hamidi, from Muhammadpur in Brahmanbaria, has received the 'Ghazal Academy Artiste and Member Honour Award 2026'. The honour was presented to him on Monday, 24 August.

Ghazal Academy conferred the award in recognition of his audio nasheeds, which have reached more than 10 million listeners on Spotify, as well as his work as a video director.

What draws so many listeners to Hamidi's nasheeds? His tracks 'Sing Nasheed', 'Wedding Nasheed', 'Ya Hulumman Ayqaza Ashqaqi' and 'Mon Hoilo Diwana' have found a strong audience on Spotify, and have also gained significant traction on TikTok.

The numbers reflect his growing popularity. His TikTok account has more than 22,000 followers, his Facebook profile more than 73,000, his Facebook page over 13,000, and his YouTube channel more than 3,000 subscribers. On Spotify, his listener count has crossed 10 million.

Hamidi is currently 22 years old. He began his early education at a local school before completing his master's at Jamia Islamia Yunusia Madrasah.

His journey began in 2022, with 'Wedding Nasheed' as his first released work, marking the start of his musical career.

Hamidi credits his elder brother, Sohan Bhuiyan, as the driving inspiration behind this path, while naming Kazi Mashkur Elahi as his idol in the world of music.

Asked about his feelings on receiving the honour, Ataur Rahman Hamidi said, "Honestly, I don't have much to say — all of this is because of your love and prayers.
