Govt stands beside flood-affected people: Dulu

Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu today said the government stands beside people affected by the recent floods and is committed to rebuilding damaged homes and supporting affected communities.

Speaking to local residents after visiting the flood-hit Bharakhali area in Kuhalong Union of Bandarban Sadar Upazila today, the minister said many houses had been destroyed in the floods and the government wants to reconstruct them.

He said farmers whose seed stocks had been damaged by the floods would receive seeds and seedlings as assistance.

The minister also said the government would work to repair roads, educational institutions and other infrastructure damaged by the floods with priority basis. 

During the visit, Dulu distributed relief materials among flood-affected families in the Bharakhali area of Kuhalong Union under Bandarban Sadar Upazila.

Parliament Member for Bandarban-300 constituency Saching Pru Jerry, Deputy Commissioner Md. Saniul Ferdous, Superintendent of Police Md. Ohabul Islam Khandaker and Bandarban Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Marufa Sultana Khan were present, among others, during the relief distribution.
