Prince gets fresh screening approval following board review

TBT REPORT

Since its release during Eid, director Abu Hayat Mahmud’s film “Prince: Once Upon a Time in Dhaka” has remained at the centre of controversy.

A month after its release, the Bangladesh Film Certification Board temporarily suspended the film’s certification following allegations that songs and scenes not included in the approved version had been added and screened. As a result, the film’s exhibition in cinemas was halted.

Later, the team behind “Prince” re-edited several scenes and resubmitted the film for certification. Following a fresh review, the board withdrew the suspension order on Sunday (May 24) and granted the film an “A” category certification, clearing the way for its screening.

Produced by Shirin Sultana under the banner of Creative Land Films, “Prince” features performances by Shakib Khan, Tasnia Farin and Jyotirmoyee Kundu.

The film is also preparing for its next release window. On the second day of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, “Prince” is scheduled to have its world television premiere on Channel i. It is currently available for streaming on the OTT platform Utshob.
