Composer-singer Iftekharul Ahtesham Lanin: “Music runs in my blood”

TBT REPORT

“Music has always been my passion—it's in my blood. I want to stay connected to it for as long as I live,” says Iftekharul Ahtesham Lanin, a popular contemporary composer and vocalist.

Lanin has built a steady reputation in both the audio industry and live stage performances, balancing his roles as a singer and composer.

Born and raised in Rampura, Dhaka, his musical journey began in childhood, learning his first lessons from his mother. From an early age, he regularly performed at school and college events. His first major recognition came when he won a competition organized by Sonali Bank, encouraged by his mother.

At just 14, he received formal training in music and composition from his uncle and mentor Nishan-e Momen. In 2009, he made his entry into the music scene with the mixed album “Featuring – Mixed One,” released under the label Sangeeta. The 10-track album earned him early acclaim in the audio industry.

He later released another album titled “Nirdidhay” under CD Choice, which also gained popularity upon release.

As a composer and vocalist, Lanin has collaborated with notable lyricists and composers including Robiul Islam Jibon, Tarek Tuhin, Jibok Barua, and Sohag Wajiuallah. To date, more than 25 original songs have been released in his voice, while he has composed music for over 200 songs.

Several new original tracks are currently in the pipeline, with plans to release them soon as music videos.

Among his notable works are “Ekla Thakar Din” (sung by Tumpa), “Habibi” (sung by Moon), “Shunyota” (sung by Asif Akbar), “Mon Vengechure,” “Tui Chhara Ke Ache Bol,” “Bichar Debo Kare,” “De Bariye Mon,” “Rongila Bhaber Konya,” “Abeg,” “Bole De Na,” and “Boishakhi Agun.” Other popular tracks include “Ekla Bhalo Thaki” (sung by Imon Khan), “Uro Chithi” (by Mahtim Shakib), “Mon Bole Tui Shon (Version 2)” (by Mahadi Sultan), “Tor Premete Noshto Hoilam,” “Chin Chin Byatha,” and “Mir Jafar,” among others.

Reflecting on his journey, Lanin expressed deep gratitude to his parents for their unwavering support—especially his mother, whom he credits as his earliest inspiration in music.
